Aerial Photos Of Homes - A Great Gift
Aerial photos of homes are a great way to walk down memory lane, view celebrity homes or take a virtual tour of a home you are considering purchasing. These photos also make great gifts for family members. If you have someone who is a history buff, you can purchase aerial photos of historical sites they have visited as a keepsake of their trip. These photos can be framed and you may even be able to purchase poster size prints if that is to your liking. Which type of picture you purchase will determine the view of the home from the photo so take that into consideration before making a purchase. The two most common types of aerial photos of homes are vertical and oblique.
Vertical aerial photos of homes are taken with the lens axis perpendicular to the earth’s surface and covers a relatively small area. This will give you an unfamiliar view of the ground as the picture is taken when the camera is pointed straight down over the home. In fact, with this type of photo, the lens must be within three degrees of perpendicular as that is the allowable tolerance. If the photo of the home is taken over flat terrain, this direction and distance will be almost as accurate as a map, yet the relief will not be readily apparent.
With an oblique shot, the photo will take on different aspects depending on the angle of the camera lens. With high oblique, the camera lens is set approximately 60 degrees from vertical. This is not commonly used for aerial photos of homes, but can give a very interesting perspective as the photo covers a large area. Relief is distorted with this style of photography and disappears completely if taken from a high altitude. The horizon is always visible with this type of picture and the view will vary depending on the height from which the picture is taken.
With a low oblique shot, aerial photos of homes cover a small area and the objects will look familiar. These picture are comparable to shots taken from a high hill or tall building. This style of picture does not show the horizon and direction cannot be measured. Although the relief is discernible, it is distorted with high oblique photos. The lens of the camera is positioned at 30 degrees from vertical with this type of shot and is often the preferred method of photography houses and other architecture. Whichever style you choose, consider an aerial photo as your next gift as it will be a unique treasure that many will enjoy.
